An EU, EEA or Swiss passport needs no visa at all. Everyone else moves on a route, and each route is built for a different kind of life in Spain. Choosing the right one matters more than any single document.
The main routes
- Student visa. For a course in Spain: university, a master’s, vocational training or a longer language course.
- Digital nomad visa. For people working remotely for employers or clients outside Spain.
- Non-lucrative visa. For people living on savings, a pension or investments, without working in Spain.
- Work permit. For a job with a Spanish employer, usually arranged with the employer.
- Family of an EU citizen. For the partner and children of someone with an EU, EEA or Swiss passport.
The investor or “golden” visa, once a common route, closed in 2025.
The right route is the one that fits the life you are actually planning, not the one a friend used.
Where visa plans go wrong
- Choosing the route last. The visa decides when you can arrive, and when you arrive shapes the school and the home.
- One family, more than one route. A parent on one route and a student on another is common, and the timings have to line up.
- Thinking the visa is the end of it. A visa lets you in. Living here means more registration once you arrive.
Student visas: this is the part we do
For students coming to study in Seville, including gap year students spending a year here before university, we advise on the application and help you build a file that is complete and consistent, then stay with you through to the appointment. Every case is quoted on its own, and the decision always rests with the consulate.
For the other routes, we introduce you to a partner we trust, and plan the school and the home around the timing.
